OUCH

I had surgery on 12/27 for what they thought was a torn rotater cuff. It ended up being just an impingement. The recovery time should be shorter but boy it hurts! The meds they gave me do nothing. I have given myself some reiki treatments and that really helps the pain. I have 3 stab wounds on my right shoulder (I'm right-handed too!) that look like they were stitched back together by a 3 yr. old! I have been laying around mostly watching TV and reading. I have been making meals and doing the dishes too. I go to the Dr. this coming week and hopefully will get back into PT to get my arm moving. Happy New Year everyone!

Stampin' Sisterhood Sunday

I am entering this card into the Stampin' Sisterhood Sunday challenge which was a sketch. I have taken some liberties with the sketch. My image is from Rubbernecker stamps called "Snowflakes on Tongues." I colored it with copic markers and added some snow dimension on the bottom. I cut out snowflakes from a punch I have.

Two Challenges

I am entering this card into two challenges this week. Drunken Stampers challenge is to use glitter. There is glitter on Santa's suit, hat and presents. JUGS Challenge this week is to make a center step card. The instructions are on Split coast stampers and it is easy! This is the first one I ever made. It did not scan as well as I had hoped, I couldn't get it straight due to the layers and the pop up Santa. The pop-up Santa is from Handmade Art, something I found in the Dollar Store (wish I had bought more...sigh!) I used a punch to make the snowflakes and the snow on the bottom. The paper is from my scrap pile. I always love it when I can make a dent in that!

I made this for the Sunday Stampin' Sisterhood but found out it was already closed. Serves me right for waiting until the last minute! I used the new window die from poppy stamps....love it! I used DCWV holly paper for the circle. I used tree images from Rubbernecker stamps (lg. tree), and from 2 different CTMH sets. I used an MS punch for the "swag" on the window sill.

I created this card using DCWV snowflake dp and CTMH juniper cardstock. I used Rubbernecker's Snowflakes and Stardust set for the tree and the snowflakes. The tree was embossed with Ranger silver embossing powder. I used a nestability to cut the area around the tree and I used 3 half pearls. This card is for the Stampin' Sisterhood Challenge.

Birthday Card

This is a birthday card I made for my friend's Mom who will be 94 on Dec. 4th, God Bless Her!
I used Tim Holtz' "collage" embossing folder for the background and sponged it with Distress Inks Tea Dye color. I then added a pc. of old catalog dp that I had laying around along with the vintage picture. I put the leaf on there. It is very sparkly but did not show up on the scan. I am entering this card into the following challenge: Drunken Stampers "Monochromatic" challenge.

I made this card for 5 challenges plus 1 more. I had the digi on my computer but, unfortunately, I don't know where it came from. I used Copic markers to color, used #2 tags to cut out, I sponged the image to age it with Vintage Photo from Ranger, I used newspaper image type paper from Hot off the Press, some kraft paper for the card, and some pearls I had laying around. I am entering this card into the following challenges:

This is a Dustin Pike freebie digi. The shamrocks were stamped with a CTMH stamp on scrap paper I had laying around. I made a bunch for another project. I colored the image with Copic markers and used gold Smooch on the coins and the leprechauns hat and buttons. I used green Smooch on the shamrock on the front of his pot.

A clean and simple card for my sister. We were just talking about a guy who resembles a monkey and wears a fez. I found this Dustin Pike digi image and made her a card. She is gonna fall over laughing when she sees this. On the inside I made it appear like it was from him saying he can't wait to see her and signed it "Love, Fez"

I used scrap paper that I had in my stash for the card base and stripes. I used a generic stamp for the birthday greeting. I used a Dustin Pike image that was a freebie. I love him. I colored with copic markers and used Rangers vintage photo to distress the image. I used my nestabilities to make the scalloped square that my image is printed on.

Penny Black challenge 138 is Pretty in Pink. My scanner does not show the vibrant pink and maroon on my card unfortunately! This is a new PB hedgie image that I just purchased. I love my hedgies! My friend Bud has been feeding this beautiful rabbit outside his house. He puts out a paper plate with carrots on it. I asked him "What, no napkin?" I finally saw the bunny the other night. Bud has built a little lean to for him and everything. SOOO...being the smart a$$ I am, I had to make this Valentine card for him from the bunny! Evan's Valentine's Day Card

My little buddy Evan loves Buzz Lightyear. He goes to a preschool and they will have a Valentine's day party. Evan was given a choice of a monkey, a dinosaur, and Buzz. Of course, he chose Buzz! I colored it with Copics. I think we are going to do a match pack card and put a small pc. of Hershey candy inside. The card will probably read "Be my Valentine to infinity and beyond!"

New Years Day Cards...VIC images

These images were from Vintage Craft Images http://www.vintageimagecraft.com. They made beautiful coasters out of the images. I decided to make cards. There is another image that is gorgeous too. I used Tim Holtz game spinners and gears to represent time (okay, maybe it's just me). I used paper from my stash and on the first one I used a cuttlebug folder to make the snowflakes.

I gave this card to a co-worker who has a strange sense of humor like I do. On the inside of the card I put a piece of notebook paper and stamped on the top of it "Dear Santa, I can explain". He thought it was pretty funny. I colored the image with Copic markers and used a cuttlebug folder for the background.

2010 Christmas Card

I got this idea and pattern from Vintage Image Craft. The inside reads: "This is a Victorian scrap from the 1890's. Scrapping became a favored pastime of women early in the 19th century. They would scour magazines and advertisements for small black and white illustrations, cut them out, often hand-color them, and paste them in albums and journals. By the 1820's, printers began to produce materials just for scrapping, and scraps soon became more elaborate with embossing, color printing and gilding, and finally die-cutting. By the end of Queen Victoria's reign in 1901, Victorians were scrap-happy and decorating everything from gift tags to furniture with these little cut-out pictures." This site has wonderful Victorian images that are free. I used yarn for the strings on the tags. The tags are on with glue dots so they may be peeled off the card and used for a Christmas tree ornament. I used green cardstock and cream cardstock as I could not decide which I liked better.

This is for Haunted Design House's challenge of Simply Sinister. I used a Pollycraft image (girl) along with an image from Rubbernecker stamps (little guy). I colored them with Copics and used a computer generated sentiment and CTMH cardstock. Being the older sister of 2 sets of twin boys (yes! I said 2!!!) that were 2 1/2 yrs. apart in age, I believe I have made this statement more than a few times during my younger years. They all lived through the evil sister years I'm happy to say but they have some stories to tell ;-)

The Allsorts challenge was to use a song as inspiration for your project. I knew immediately I wanted to do a Halloween card using "The Monster Mash" as my inspiration. The song came out in 1962 by Bobby "Boris" Pickett. It was a one-hit wonder. I used "Trick or Treaters" and "Graveyard" by Stamp Oasis. You can get these from http://www.rubbernecker.com/
I used Copic markers to color except for the word "monster" which is colored with a dk. blue Sakura gelly roll pen. The bat is Cottage Cutz.

Penny Black Challenges

I am entering this card for the Penny Black at Allsorts Challenge to "Punch Away", and Penny B. Friends Saturday Challenge which is "Indian Summer." I used gold cardstock for the base of the card. I used some dp from the Dollar Store (I believe it's "Miss Elizabeth" brand.) I used a Penny Black image colored with Copics. I used the polished stone technique for the square where the dog is. I punched out a bunch of leaves with scrap cardstock and then added a ribbon. I did not use a sentiment as I'm not sure yet what I'll be using the card for.

I used a Kraftin' Kimmie stamp (haunted house) on this card colored with Copic markers. The dp is DCWV, the ghost is a punch as is the cat and the bat in the left corner. The punches do not have the company name on them as they are several yrs. old. I am entering this card in to 2 challenges...Allsorts #70 to use 3 punches, and Pals Paper Arts #60 to make a Halloween card. The ghost has some sparklies around the edge but the scanner did not pick it up well.

This card is for the Just Us Girls challenge #51 to use red, black, and green. I used an image from Kraftin' Kimmie stamps, colored him with Copic markers, and used a Kraftin' Kimmie sentiment. I used DCWV paper for the background. I blobbed a little ink above the sentiment and used a bat I punched out (punch manufacturer unknown) to hide it.

Caardvarks challenge was a Tiffany Doodles sketch challenge. I did not follow the sketch closely but I did use a Tiffany Doodles digi. I colored it with copic markers. I used CTMH green paper and DCWV dp. There is silver on the pc. that goes along the center but it did not scan well. There are some gorgeous digis over there as well as some freebies on Thursday.

This card is for House Mouse challenge #75. I used my Prisma pencils but couldn't find my blending stubs. So I had to color it and not blend. I made the crocheted flower and put a hat pin in it. Oh to have Great Grandma Rosie's button jar and old hat pins! I could slap myself for not keeping them. Who would have thought??? I distressed the edges of the paper with distress ink (vintage photo). I used a dp on the background that looked like an old newspaper.

So I got some great goodies to play with, thanks to Dave. This technique is called polished stone and can be found on Tim Holtz's website. Basically you take at least 3 Adirondack alcohol ink colors, put them on a blending pad, and "pounce" them on glossy cardstock. You wait a bit and then stamp over with a stamp using Staz-On. Another Easel Card

Here is another easel card I made. My camera is broken so I have to lay it flat to scan...so much for the easel effect. I used CTMH cardstock, Tim Holtz images and spinner and I used vintage photo distressed ink. If you could lift the card up into an easel it says "Enjoy the Journey." I distressed the sides and sponged the ink over the edges to make it look old.

Always Playing With Paper #4

The challenge was to make an easel card on Always Playing With Paper. This is the first one I've done. No...I didn't do it wrong, the camera is broken so I had to scan it. Use your imagination. It folds down and catches on the brad and stands up. The cardstock is from CTMH as well as the sentiments (Happy Birthday and Make a Wish) The dp is from DCWV stack called "Nana's Kids." The paper punch is MS. These are fun to do. Think I'll make a boy one next. The easel card tutorial is on Split Coast Stampers.

Here is my apron for the Just Us Girls challenge #39 this week. I love making these! There is a template on their site that you can print out. When you pull the flower up a message saying "Forever Friends" is printed on the tag. I used some lace from JoAnn's, some brads and ribbon from my stash, some paper from Walmart, a paper punch for the flower, and CTMH argyle backgrounds stamp for the dots and the sentiment. Gotta go make more, these babies are addicting!

I made this card for the JUGS #37 challenge to use a digi. I used a free digi from My Time Made Easy. Aren't they cute? They come with 3 sayings too. I used CTMH Just Chillin' paper for the top and some paper I bought at JoAnn's that looked like sand. Sometimes I use sandpaper, but I didn't have any to use today. I used Copic Markers to color Water and Waverly Wiggles.

Cute Card Thursday #116 was "anything but a square" so I made the flowerpot card; Crafty Hos challenge was to "think bright"; and Allsorts #56 was a challenge to use buttons and or lace. I used those paint "chips" you get at the store and punched out the flowers. I use them quite a bit. I'll bet those stores wonder if I'm an interior designer or something. LOL

The House Mouse Challenge called for something "Sweet". I didn't have a sweet image so I improvised. I love this image with the mouse juggling peanuts. I added a peanut brittle recipe so I could maybe squeak into this challenge. How did I do? LOL! I used Copic markers to color the image and DCWV "Old World" mat stack for the background paper (I thought it looked like wallpaper.)

I rocked 3 challenges today: Haunted Design House; devious doctors and fiendish Florence Nightengales...I used a Daniel Torrente stamp for the creepy female doctor; Allsorts; use a tag...mine is a used as a gravestone that says "Is there a doctor in the house?"; and Burtonesque Dolls...to use black flowers and skulls. I colored the image with Copic Markers, the background paper is DCWV, I used a Fiskars flower punch and dotted the flower with a white Jelly Roll pen, the tag punch is from Paper Shapers, and the skull fell off a kids charm bracelet. Enjoy this beautiful day.

Tile Coaster

I finally got to Lowe's to buy tiles to make some drink coasters. I saw the instructions online on Split Coast Stamper's. The tutorial was by Gina K. I wiped the surface with nail polish remover to clean the tile. After that dried I stamped the stem with Staz-on olive ink and the flower outline with black Staz-on ink. I then used a dark pink colored Sharpie to color in the flower petals and also used yellow for the center and lt. green for the stamens. You then spray it with sealant and let it dry. I used CTMH stamps for the flower and stem. These are so inexpensive to make. The tiles are only 32 cents each!

Heart 2 Heart Technique Challenge

I used the Polished Stone technique on my card. I used Adirondack Alcohol Inks from Ranger in Ginger, Latte, and Caramel. I placed them on the ink applicator along with a dab of silver metallic and pounced the applicator on glossy cardstock. I then used blending solution all over the piece to lighten it up. I used CTMH Four Solid Stamps stamp set, Moondoggie designer paper, and garden green cardstock. I used a paper punch to round the corners of all the papers. Although I love all techniques, this is one of my favorite techniques.

Rubbernecker Stamps

I had a chance today to play with my Rubbernecker stamps http://www.rubbernecker.com and to also play with some Ranger products. I used meadow, slate, and lettuce alcohol inks along with silver metallic and pounced it on a pc. of glossy cardstock. I stamped it with Rubbernecker Time Dreamer when the background was still wet so that the stamp had some spots that didn't stamp. I then added a Tim Holtz sprocket gear with a brad I had and stamped "Dream" from the Rubbernecker Fall Trilogy Set. I used Staz-on for the sentiment and Time Dreamer stamp. I made this stair step card using CTMH cardstock in Hollyhock and Garden Green. I used CTMH ink in Sweet Leaf and Hollyhock for the images. The images are from CTMH Finding Beauty and the little heart is from CTMH Private Eye Tiny Lowercase. The challenge was to use 2 different ribbons. I hope color difference counts. Multiple challenges in one card today. Just Us Girls (JUGS) #31 involved this sketch, Allsorts required an animal on your card, Penny Black required using punches (MS punch) and a Penny Black image (my favorites...the hedgehogs!), The Pink Elephant blogspot required use of the color Aqua. I rarely nail 4 in one card so I'm a little proud of myself today. You all have a great day. It is gorgeous here in Central NY for a change.

Practical Scrappers challenge

Friday's challenge on Practical Scrappers was to use floss, fibers or ribbons. I am guilty of having alot of stuff but not using it. I like how the ribbon really makes the flower pot. I always wanted to try one of these flower pots. I found it on SCS. I think next time I will make the flowers smaller. The top flower (blue one) was embossed and it came out blurry. It looks good in real life, just didn't scan well. When you pull up on the flowers, there is a message inside. I'm going to make some more of these. Have a great day.

Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?

The Cuttlebug Spot has a challenge this week called "At the movies/show." You're supposed to portray your favorite movie or show with a card, layout, etc. I picked an old movie from 1962 called "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" It starred Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. It was a psychological thriller written by Lukas Heller and directed by Robert Aldrich about two sisters. I used a batik method with my cuttlebug, inking up the folder with CTMH outdoor denim on blue cardstock and running it through. This was shown on Gina K's web site. I also used a Rubbernecker stamp called Sisters (http://www.rubbernecker.com), I used a butterfly brad and self stick pearls from my stash. I made the crocheted flower. I had a wonderful opportunity this past weekend to demo Rubbernecker Stamps and Tim Holtz products at the Altamont, NY fairgrounds for the owner of Rubbernecker Stamps, Dave Miller. At the show I saw a card Dave had posted, I'm not sure who made it, and I based this card on that design. For this card I used Rubbernecker stamps for the images, fishing vest and rod and hanging fish set, CTMH stamps for the lettering, and CTMH background paper from the Rustic Trail set. My Dad is no longer living but I'm going to post this at work for the guys for Father's Day. I wish Dave had one of those blog blinkies so I could advertise his stamps. Check it out:

This is a copy of a card done by Kim Burmeister that I made. I used the SU 2 step punch and punched the image on cardstock. I then used it on top of the card to blend in my colors, kind of like a template. I used CTMH ink in sweet leaf, cocoa, and midnight blue. I like how clean and simple it is. Kim used window sheets from SU and I would imagine it is much easier and you can also clean it off and reuse it. See her blogspot called Clearly Inspired.

Card Party

Not your typical card party! A friend invited me to come to her house and teach her, her 2 daughters and another friend how to make cards. We're starting with the top one, simple right? I love the Penny Black Hedgehogs, how many times can I say it...LOL It would make a good card for a boy because of the dp I used for the background. The second card is one I saw on the CTMH website. I changed it some. I used CTMH ink and CTMH stamps, cut them out and put them in "windows". I then used MS grass punch for the bottoms and some ribbon I had hanging around.
